FROM JACK’S DESK…

Summer is almost over. And we are now heading into what traditionally is the busiest time of the year for us. Our schedule for this fall is filling up rapidly, but don’t panic, if you call us soon, we can still do your window or siding work before the snow flies. Estimating and booking work tends to wind down this time of year, but there is no reason to get your quote prepared by my installers, who will let you know if we can do your work now or wait until spring. Just call us 519-822-5000, or Email us….. jacks2@bellnet.ca

People often ask me if we can install windows, siding or eavestrough in the winter. Seamless eavestrough will expand when warm, so we try not to install the longer lengths (30 feet or longer) if the temperature is below minus 7 or so. Aluminum soffit and fascia can be installed in temperatures down to minus 10 or so, and vinyl siding can be cut and installed in temperatures as low as minus 7 or 8. Vinyl windows can be installed in almost any temperature range as long as it not too windy or snowing. And we use polyurethane and silicone based caulking which can be applied in fairly cold temperatures, as opposed to the popular but much lower quality, butyl based caulking, that most siding and window companies use, but does not apply well in cold temperatures.

So yes, we can install in the fall and winter months, if the conditions are favorable, but we will only install if we can do it with the same high quality that we deliver the rest of the year!!

Call Jack’s Aluminum Limited. After all, we know how to install, and we also know how and when not to install…

We are reasonable but, we don’t do cheap!!

FROM JACK’S DESK…

We don’t do cheap!! Just a few observations about how the window and siding renovation industry is changing…..

One disturbing trend I’ve noticed the past couple of years is that there are more and more people with very little experience calling themselves window and siding contractors. Sure, they may have adequate experience as a roofer or as a new construction siding installer, or they may be a reasonable ‘handyman’, but nothing can substitute for over thirty five years of experience in the renovation window and siding replacement industry.

It was around 1990 that we at Jack’s decided to get away from doing subdivision new construction siding work and concentrate on renovation window and siding replacement.

That meant getting away from low gauge and low quality products and sourcing out heavier gauge siding and aluminum soffit and eavestrough products. That meant focusing on higher standards in installation practices and not free lancing or sub-contracting any work out.

For example, we are the only local siding company that I know of, that fastens all of their eavestrough components with rustfree coloured aluminum rivets, instead of painted zinc screws that rusts. We only install aluminum soffit that is about 50% thicker than what you will find at the local lumberyards and even most siding suppliers. And that same principal applies to the vinyl siding and the custom vinyl wall shingle that we install. And there is a world of a difference in the vinyl window that we sell, compared to what you will find from the local building supply retailers…

So if your main concern is a low price, don’t call us. Instead, go ahead and call your ‘friend of a friend of a friend’ who will do the job for less, quite often for cash. But if you want a reasonably priced window, siding or eavestrough installation, call the company that is fiercely proud of every job that we do. Call the local siding contractor who will only use installers who have decades of experience, and who warranties everything they install. Call the company that does everything above the table.

Call the company that has withstood the test of time.

Call Jack’s Aluminum Limited. After all, we know how to install, and we also know how not to install…

We are reasonable but, we don’t do cheap!!

Enjoy the end of the ‘Return to school’ season!!.
